1760: CHEROKEE VICTORY AT FORT LOUDOUN This culminating event will commemorate the siege and surrender of Fort Loudoun to the Overhill Cherokee in August of 1760. The program will consist of guided tours of the Little Tennessee River Valley, speakers and living history. GUIDED TOURS: Scheduled for August 6th, 7th and 8th. The tours will depart from our neighboring institution, the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum and last approximately 2.5 hours. Vans and drivers will be provided by Tennessee State Parks with guides provided by the Museum of the Cherokee Indian. Stops are planned at the Cherokee village sites of Tanasi, Chota and Great Tellico plus a stop at the battle site of Cane Creek. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase on the vans. Guided tour tickets are on sale now. Information and reservations can be obtained by telephone (423-884-6217) or in person at the Fort Loudoun Visitor Center. |
